Data Display Solutions FAQsWhat currencies and instruments can you use with your Java charting solutions ?The short answer is that any currencies and instruments are able to be viewed with our solution. These can cover any industry and any data type. The example charts that are available to view on our web site have a small set of data that we have been collecting in our database and are intended as an example only. DTS’s Java charting solutions are designed to display a broad range of instruments and asset classes. The example charts on the website show data that is available through our historical data server which captures real-time data at a range of discrete time intervals allowing the data to be viewed as real-time tick data through to end of day data and end of week data. The data can cover any industry and any data type. The example charts that are available to view on our web site have only a small set of data that we have been collecting in our database and are intended as an example only. DTS's Java charting solution is a flexible tool for enabling the display of data of any type in a browser. What sort of data can be viewed ?Again, like the answer above, the data that can be viewed is limited to the data that is fed to the application. What different ways can the data be viewed ?On the example charts that are available on our web site we have listed 7 ways to view the data. These are as follows:
However, we can add any other display formats that are required. If you want to give us feedback on what other ways to display the data please use our Contact Page and we will investigate your suggestions What are sub-charts ?“Sub-Charts” are the charts that have their own Y axis that sit underneath the main chart. These can be detached from the main chart for closer analysis if required. How many technical analysis studies are incorporated with the charts ?On the example charts that are available on our web site we have provided 7 different technical analysis studies for you to see how these can be incorporated in the solution. These are as follows:
However, we can add any other technical analysis studies that are required. If you want to give us feedback on what other ways to display the data please use our Contact Support page and we will investigate your suggestions. What other features are there ?Data Display Solutions offers these features:
What is the different between single and multiple chart configurations ?The simplest way to visualise this is to go to the example charts on our web site. If you load the Multiple Chart module you will be presented with a dialogue to allow you to configure how many charts will be displayed in the Multiple Chart window and it also allows you to choose the data sets and time intervals before the charts have been created. If you choose not to pre-configure the charts, one of 2 things will happen: a) If you have previously chosen the format of the charts and you have cookies enabled in your browser you will get the same charts back the next time you load the charts, or b) If cookies are not enabled the default charts will be drawn. Usually the Multiple Chart display will be configured with either 2 or 4 individual charts. Do you include drawing facilities in the charts?Yes, there are several line drawing features. Single lines can be drawn as well as parallel lines and these can be moved and deleted as required. Lines drawn will follow the data sets they were initially applied to as the data is updated. Why is there a green line drawn across the graph?A green line is drawn across the chart to show the last updated value. The actual value of the green line will be shown on the Y axis. What is the “detach” feature used for ?Often the chart display in the browser window will not be large enough for detailed analysis. To view any of the charts outside the browser they can be detached from the browser and resized as required. When the Multiple Chart feature is being used it is necessary to detach the chart in order to access the menu items for each individual chart. Can you detach the technical analysis studies from the charts ?As discussed in previous question you can detach the individual charts or the Multiple Chart windows from your browser for more detailed analysis. In addition some of the technical analysis studies are drawn in “Sub-Charts” and these can also be detached from the main chart. This can be very useful as the “Sub-Charts” are by nature relatively compact. Are all the Technical Analysis studies displayed in “Sub-Charts” ?No, some are overlaid on the main data sets. It depends on the type of technical analysis study that is being considered. How is the Java Chart solution delivered to customers ?DTS has a range of solutions for delivery of the Java Charts. The most common delivery solution is for DTS to provide the entire delivery infrastructure to our clients. This includes the feedhandler, the data transport mechanism, the database storage facilities and the Java Charts themselves. We provide assistance with configuration and implementation. This means that you can use the solution to display your own data as well as data from other 3rd party sources. Why does the chart not update when I draw the lines on the chart ?The Java Charts update dynamically if they are left open in your browser or in detached form. For example, the 5 minute chart will update every 5 minutes. If you have drawn a line over a particular set of data the updates will be stopped until the lines are removed. End faq |
