Horizon COM (Component Object Model) was developed as an extension of Horizon Premium specifically for users that want to interface the Horizon database and functionality with other commonly used financial applications. Horizon COM is an API version of the Horizon program suite that enables our users to make calls to the Horizon functionality from their own applications using programming languages such as Visual Basic, C and C++. We have a range of clients that have used the Horizon COM application to access the Horizon data for use in stress testing financial portfolios and for doing Value At Risk (VAR) calculations. Clients that are familiar with Matlab ©, S Plus © and Microsoft Excel © have found the ability to make calls to the Horizon functionality add a lot of flexibility to their workspace.
