Configuring ExPDA to Subscribe to Data

ExPDA (Excel Publish/Display Application) has been developed by DTS to aid the real time sharing of data across an organisation. For an example of a Bank dealer using ExPDA to provide real time F/X prices to the F/X Sales staff click on ExPDA F/X Example. Setting up or configuring the ExPDA is easy to do and yet it is extremely flexible and powerful. It involves three steps:

Step 1 Request Data
Step 2 Publish Data
Step 3 Subscribe to Data

Step 3 Subscribe to Data

After first Requesting and then Publishing the Data another user that is permissioned to access "stevesfeed" then Subscribes to that data again through the Excel right mouse click menu selection.

This "Subscriber" dialogue allows the user in Sales to specify what data they wants to have updating in the Excel cell.

The subscriber chooses a cell in Excel and then requests a record. Dropdown lists of feednames, record names and field numbers will be available to make the selection use friendly. A web based selection tool that integrates multiple data sources will also be released in the next version of the ExPDA.
