Configuring ExPDA to Publish Data

ExPDA  (Excel Publish/Display Application) has been developed by DTS to aid the real time sharing of data across an organisation. For an example of a Bank dealer using ExPDA to provide real time F/X prices to the F/X Sales staff click on ExPDA F/X Example.  Setting up or configuring the ExPDA is easy to do and yet it is extremely flexible and powerful.  It involves three steps:

Step 2 Publish Data

After adding value to the data itself, the user would then publish the data out to the ExPDA forwardhandler for others to subscribe to.  In the example below he/she is publishing the data from cell L10

The "Publisher" gives the record a name and a field number and the Publishers "feed" name is automatically allocated for the particular user. For example the Record might be "GBP/USD Customer" and the Field Number might be 1 for mid price.  Note that a comment is added to each cell with the published record details for security.

When the user set up his ExPDA he allocated a feed name to himself (in this case “stevesfeed”) and when he configures the Record description and Field number this data is stored in the ExPDA server for subscribers to request.

Click on Step 3 Subscribe to Data to continue the ExPDA configuration/set up description.
